DerbyWars announced today that qualifying tournaments for the Daily Racing Form/NTRA National Handicapping Championship (NHC) are returning to the digital handicapping contest platform. NHC qualifiers on DerbyWars will be held every Saturday in August and will mark the first time DerbyWars has hosted NHC qualifiers in over a year.

The DerbyWars NHC Qualifiers will be held every Saturday in August beginning Saturday, August 3, and feature contest races from Saratoga and Del Mar. Each DerbyWars NHC Qualifier will be limited to 11 entries and will award one seat each to the NHC. Players may qualify for a seat in each DerbyWars NHC Qualifier by playing in preliminary qualifying tournaments held in advance of each Saturday’s tournament. Formats of preliminary qualifying tournaments will be listed at DerbyWars.com.
The contest format of each DerbyWars NHC Qualifier will be held in DerbyWars’ typical “Bullet” style format where players will be tasked with selecting one horse in each contest race. The win and place payoffs from each selected horse which finishes first or second will accrue in each player’s mythical bankroll. The player with the largest bankroll at the conclusion of each tournament will be deemed the winner and secure a seat in the NHC. The second place finisher will receive automatic entry into the following week’s DerbyWars NHC Qualifier.

The NHC will be held at Treasure Island in Las Vegas, Nevada, on January 24-26, 2014. The tournament will feature a prize pool of over $1.5 million.
